Overview

Taekwondo is a very systematic martial art from Korea that involves head-height kicks, spinning, jumping, and fast kicking techniques. Taekwondo is recognized as one of the oldest forms of martial arts and one of the more popular forms to learn. Many people enjoy Taekwondo at Black Tiger Martial Arts because it involves more than just movement of the body, but also positive training of our spirit and mind.

Taekwondo training can be a great way to boost a child’s confidence while helping them develop essential motor skills, flexibility and coordination. Kids who study Taekwondo learn self-control, self-respect and focus. Classes at Black Tiger Martial Arts are taught with the five tenets or principles of Taekwondo in mind: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit. Your child will not only improve their physical health they will also make friends while learning important life skills.

Self Defense

Taekwondo at Black Tiger Martial Arts in York, SC puts you in an atmosphere where you can succeed with any sized opponent, gain self-esteem and confidence in your skills, and learn to never give up and raise your endurance. We will give you the skills you need to feel confident in redirection and assertiveness in any threatening situation. Our members at Black Tiger Martial Arts are taught how to assess and de-escalate situations without needing to physically use their skills.

Life Lessons Developed Through Martial Arts

Classes at Black Tiger end with group discussions and role-playing exercises. We touch on life lessons and discuss alternate resolutions to some of the issues children face today. These issues are discussed in a non-threatening, proactive way.
